Il Monastero Esarchico di Santa Maria di Grottaferrata, detto anche Abbazia Greca di San Nilo, è stato fondato nel 1004 da un gruppo di monaci provenienti dalla Calabria bizantina guidati da S. Nilo di Rossano, capo carismatico e personaggio di primo piano del suo tempo.

The Exarchic Monastery of Santa Maria in Grottaferrata, also known as the Greek Abbey of Saint Nilus, was founded in 1004 by a group of monks from Calabria led by St. Nilus of Rossano, a charismatic leader and a very important figure of his time.
