This is a simple multi-cache with some NZ history.
NB This area has a number of risks for young children, please be careful. Note you will NOT need to climb over any fences, nor go into any restricted areas.
Please park in the main carpark, and walk to waypoint 1.
The views are stunning on a sunny day!
To locate the cache you will need to make your way to waypoint 1 (the above coordinates).
There you will need to find the following information:
AB= The last two digits of the second of the two peak years
C= The first digit of the number of gunners who first arrived
D= The first digit of the number of personnel based there
E= The digit of the middle gun emplacement
F= The digit of the gun emplacement to the left of E - 1
G= The guns were installed in 19G1
Coordinates for final waypoint are: S AB CD EF(G - 4)
Make your way to waypoint 2.
There you will need to find the following information (and have a good history lesson too!)
A= What vintage were the two 60 pound field guns - World War A?
B= Ex-naval guns were used, which MK were they? B
C= How many T's are in the last word of the headline? C
D= The British Admiralty loaned NZ several ex-naval guns in July 19D1?
E= The MK VII guns were mounted specially constructed gun pits - E= the number of letters of the shape they are.
F= War broke out in September 19F9?
G= The shells were stored at the rear of the 6 inch guns in ? (number of letters) G=?
H= The gunners barracks were completed in mid-?? - add the digits in the year, subtract 11=H
