Geocache Description:

This cache is placed in a gem of a cemetery. Permission was granted by the caretaker. Cache is not near any graves. Please take care while in this beautiful resting place. No night caching please.

Our first cache! Our trusty GPS usually "X marks the spot" within 5 paces. Let us know if yours says the same. You may take the road most of the way to the cache. Watch out for poison ivy along the edges of the cemetery in the surrounding woods and near "the spot."

The beautiful cemetery you visit while in search of this cache is lovingly cared for by a small private association. All work and materials are provided for via donations from members, most of whom are retired. Please tread lightly in this peaceful place. Say a prayer for those who rest here. Take time to enjoy the quiet and the many historic graves. CITO bags are provided in the cache box if you'd like to pick up a bit while enjoying the monuments. If you take the last CITO bag, please make note on the electronic log and I will bring more.

This cemetery is the resting place for local residents dating back to the 1800s and has verterans from many of our nation's historic wars.

Our 10 year old daughter was excited to find that her school's namesake, Dorothy B. Bunce, rests here.

While looking at the stones, you will notice that the Bell family lost two sons, aged 17 and 16 to the American Civil War.

Also, Darius Spring was a soldier in the War of 1812. He fought and died in the Battle of Lake Erie and from one account was "scalped by the Indians." Hence, the namesake for this cache..."The Tomakawk Cache."

Congratulations to Paleoman52 and ChasJas for sharing FTF!!!
