Geocache Description:

Using roadside parking as shown, the site can be accessed in less than 10 minutes for a dash and grab. Due to soil type and tree cover, the immediate area around the site is very muddy in all but drought conditions. Take care with children near the stream, normally slow and shallow, it becomes a torrent after rainfall.

Part of the industrial heritage of the area is the network of footpaths which criss-cross the parish. They connected the things which were of importance to the miners who created these pathways: the pubs and the pits. The pits have gone, but most of the pubs remain. The approach from Lea Lane Selston is particularly muddy and boots are recommended. The cache is a small opaque box. Contents are themed on small badges. The initial cache includes a variety of scouting and other small badges and awards. Room for small TB's Try it at night. SPOOKY! (Suggest you might want to park nearer the houses, otherwise the car might look a bit exposed)
