Red Moss is sandwiched between Horwich and Middlebrook retail park. Its beautiful and its lonely. I have never seen another person here. Even the local yobs ignore it, its litter free! Few of the zillions of shoppers to the retail park know whats just over the fence from the multitudes of furniture stores! I have placed a number of caches around the fringes of Red Moss which people have had all kinds of adventures with. Mainly because of the difficulty in picking a path across the Moss. Well this cache is the best location yet in terms of view and you can get to it on a path. Now just like its neighbour Moss Garden the path is seldom trod so just like that one I will provide a detailed route. In that case few people took any notice and ended getting chased by bulls and sinking in bogs. But here's the route for anyone who wants it. DO NOT CROSS ANY BOG YOU DON'T HAVE TO. 1) Park on MiddleBrook 2) Go to the published coordinates of the Rupert Bear cache. N 53° 35.090 W 002° 32.537. It's just of Futura park. When I published Rupert that location was an unamed grave of someone (or more likely somthing). 3) Pick the path heading off to the North West. Head for 53 35.360 -2 32.820. Here there is a clearing to the left. 4) Head to 53 35.358 -2 32.867. You should see a raised path with bog on either side. This gives you a bullseye to the cache. Alternatively you could start from Moss Lane in Horwich. Take the path through Gibbs farm which goes on to the Moss. Then go straight to the 2nd Waypoint. Good Luck!
