Geocache Description:

Night at Ramsdell, bring your flashlights and your courage! This is a NIGHT CACHE, you must wait until dark to find this cache! A good flashlight, some water and good walking shoes/boots are a must...and bug dope if you do this in the warm months! The use of a GPS IS required for this cache as well as a flashlight!

Tod and I had planned to place a few caches in this park a while back, we even obtained permission! Well, that never came about and I felt badly about this, so we double checked permission and cleared it with the inhabitants of the farmhouse....it's good to go!

A night cache, gotta love that! This one is a multi-stage tour of the trails of Ramsdell Nature Park...in the dark! Some stages will require finding copper tree tags and entering new coords, some will require the use of a flashlight and good eyesight! We've got a few tricks up our sleeves, but just keep in mind that you can always backtrack if you get "lost"! Three reflectors means look around!

You'll start your journey from the picnic shelter, the trail is where the coords listed will take you. Watch for the occasional reflective tack or tiedown until you come to the first stage...a pair of copper tree tags with coords to the next adventure! It is also at this first stage that we realized something other than ourselves were out there with us...

When you reach the coords, you will then start looking for the reflective tiedowns and tacks again...choose your direction wisely, we might not have marked the trail very good as something was definitely stalking the Cachestalkers that night and we were in a hurry! KAboom was hurriedly wrapping the tiedowns around branches so we could hopefully find our way back...but I fear the thing that was out there was taking the strips down behind us!

Not sure what happened next as we started running and running....deep into the dark woods, deep into the unknown! KAboom is yelling at me because we haven't placed many trail markers, how in the world could we with that thing chasing us. We never did see what it was, but we heard it plenty of times...YIKES! I think whatever that thing was, it could fly as it looked like it was moving some of our markers high into the trees?? Maybe this thing was merely toying with us, maybe it wanted to play? We didn't want to find out! Stage 3 is a pr of copper tree tags with coords to the next location as we feared the thing was really screwing with our markers!

The coords take you to a rest stop, we found we were now alone in the woods again (or at least we thought so), we rested a bit here! After our rest, we headed in the direction we thought we should go to get out (and not go back the way we came)...not quite! Follow the sporadic reflective markers to the next adventure!

A pair of copper tree tags will give you the coords to the final, make your choice of trails to follow and head on to it! We chose not to head back the way we came and we were happy to be left alone the entire walk to the final. The final is a big ammo box, I was getting it ready to be hidden (you know, the normal ammo box under the sticks type thing) when all of a sudden, the "thing" whooshed over my head sounding eerily like a giant bat?? I turned back to throw the ammo box into it's hiding spot, but it was gone??? KAboom was now white as a ghost!

"FORGET THIS" KAboom yelled as he turned to run out of the woods (leaving me behind and a bit scared)...but it wasn't too long before I was passing him by...I just wished we knew which trail to take! After running blindly for what seemed forever, KAboom spotted the lights of the farmhouse. "There it is" he yelled and turned to choose another trail, "Not on the trails", I told him "let's bushwack it". We found the Jeep and was out of there as fast as we could go!
