Geocache Description:

A small cache just off the Wey Navigation towpath near the Pigeon House Bridge.

You are looking for a small black lock and seal box.

Room for small swaps and geocoins etc.

The cache is hidden near to the Pigeon House Footbridge which crosses the canal.

The bridge was probably named after a large dovecot, often called pigeon houses, at Pyrford Manor which was built near here in the late 16th century.

Pigeons and doves were highly prized for the menu in manors at the time and their droppings were also used as a saltpetre ingredient for gunpowder, and often the cotes were extravagant and impressive structures worthy of note.
