Arizona Map Stash Traditional Cache

An unsavory character.

The Arizona Map Stash consists of an ammo box containing a log book, pencil, and for starters, three copies of the 2007 edition of my favorite Arizona fold-out map.

This indispensable map is available at the local convenience store for $6. So the map-purchasing pragmatist may wonder why one would make an arduous journey to such an unfashionable location to browse some free maps.

The answer transcends a map's monetary value and the ease with which it might otherwise be obtained. A successful finder will carry with them something the convenience store short-cutter will not have (in addition to any trip-related scars): the solace of knowing that they’ve truly earned the lifetime of cartographic and informational benefits that the map provides.

To ensure that the Arizona Map Stash is stocked with a good supply of quality maps, I intend to practice a rigorous cache maintenance schedule. I will check on the stash once for every twenty finds or once a month, whichever comes last, adding more maps on each visit.
