This is one of a series of caches paying tribute to Alfred
Hitchcock for his classic thriller movies. The goal in creating
this Hitchcock series was to find a location relevant to each
movie.
Psycho (1960) is probably the favorite movie of most Hitchcock
fans. It is about Norman Bates, the owner of the Bates Motel who is
delusional and does some unusual things. Eeeeee Eeeeee Eeeeee! A
true classic.
Trivia - For Psycho, Hitchcock deferred his standard $250,000
salary in lieu of 60% of the film's net profits. His personal
earnings from the film exceeded $15 million. Adjusted for
inflation, that amount would now top $150 million in present day
terms. When Psycho was first released, Hitchcock's promotional
gimmicks included not allowing theaters to let any one in once the
movie had begun. And they stuck by his request.
You may already know that Hitchcock appeared briefly and
discreetly (stealth) in each of his films. In Psycho he appears six
minutes into the movie … through Janet Leigh’s window
wearing a cowboy hat, as she returns to her office.
