Geocache Description:

Easy walk around public park, generally suitable for wheelchairs with exception of cache location (sorry).

Welcome to Shroggs Park.

Ahh - town of my birth – always makes me nostalgic! There doesn’t appear to be too many caches here and spotted that a nice little park wasn’t represented at all. Other connection is my godmother, Alice Goodwin, was born at the lodge in the park grounds.

The name Shroggs derives from "bushy scrubs", a description of the land before it was transformed into a park by Edward Akroyd. Edward Milner, who also designed People's Park, designed the park, and William Swinden Barber designed the houses at the entrance. The park was opened in 1881. For futher history see (visit link)
