Geocache Description:

This cache is a letterbox hybrid located in Bowdoin Park. Letterbox hybrids combine the hunt for the prize like ordinary caches, but also the bonus of collecting "stamps" in your own personal log book. Letterboxing has been around for many years before GPS was used for locating hidden items. When you find it, use the stamp and ink pad located inside to mark your book. Additionally, if you have your own stamp, place your mark in the caches log book. You don't have to have a personal stamp to claim the smiley, but I would like you to so I can see them all when the book fills up. Please DO NOT TAKE the stamp or ink pad. Leave them there for the next person to find.

The cache itself derived it's name from combining the story of legendary lumberjack Paul Bunyan and biblical tale of Jonah and the Whale. Put them together and you will have a clue as to the hiding place. A major reason for the placement of this cache is the interesting trees just East along the YELLOW trail a very short distance from the cache. You will find a huge tree for the area right on the trail and another fascinating tree with "spikes" along its' trunk within 20 feet of each other. I have created a waypoint that should put you in between the trees on the yellow trail. I hope you find them as interesting as I do.

Bowdoin Park is located along the Hudson River on Sheaf Rd. in Wappingers Falls and is open from 9am-6pm. Trail maps can usually be found at a kiosk just after the main gate. There is plenty of parking with several pavilions and a nice playground for kids. Pets are allowed as long as they are on a leash of no more than 6 feet. Be sure to bring a camera and enjoy this beautiful park.
