Once upon a time there were very few caches here...actually there
was ZERO caches...zero,none,notta. None even close. Nowadays this
area is abundant in a variety of caches.
Circa August 2003 : 2 of the earlier pioneers of the sport of
geocaching came to this geocache stark barren land to place a cache
or two and to hopefully draw some local interest to this
sport.These geocachers were pater47 and Jaguar1(ChrisfromMS).
These first 2 caches were DeltaDawgs first finds and drew out some
fine cachers like Bitbrain,Pushmataha,Brashkin, and Redleg1SG before
the caches demise.
The sands of time trickled on...
"I wonder what it would have been like if these "alpha caches" were
never placed?!
With deepest gratitude i present the original cache listing as it
appeared then.

"The Maroon and White in the Land of the Red and Blue
That's right! A maroon ammo box containing Mississippi State
University trinkets has been placed on the campus of the Ole Miss
Rebels. At least, it's starting out this way. This doesn't have to
remain an MSU Tribute cache. Remove a Bulldog item and replace it
with one from your favorite college, be it Ole Miss, Memphis,
Southern, Delta State, Jones School of Barbering, whoever. Also
feel free to "Decorate" the outside of the container itself with
stickers, decals, etc. This was placed in an effort to get some
geocaching involvement going in this area. Enjoy! "
You are looking for a well hidden maroon ammo in the woods. It will
be within 100 feet of a paved walking trail. Inside the cache is a
pair of the first micro cache containers (the same type Jaquar1 hid
that fateful day) hidden in Lafayette County. These were provided
by Pater47 himself. Take one or both of them as a trade item if you
like but promise to hide them wisely.
