Geocache Description:

Earl Manigault aka The Goat, aka The G.O.A.T. (Greatest Of All Time).

What this guy could have been, if not for drugs... Kareem Abdul Jabbar said the Goat was Rebound" is a movie (starring Don Cheadle) about his life and battle with drugs.

Earl Manigault grew up on the mean streets of Harlem , playing at the infamous Rucker Park where many of the greats played, and continue to play. Growing up, he wore ankle weights to strengthen his leg muscles. He could jump so high, that he could pick quarters off the top of the backboard. He had a vertical jump of almost five feet! He was trained by Holcombe Rucker himself.

On the court, nothing could beat the Goat. But in real life, his drug habit was his kryptonite. It was a habit that kept him from playing professional basketball. It was a habit he could not shake until the early 80's. He then started a program/tournament for kids called "Walk Away From Drugs".

Rucker Park is located right across the street from the Polo Grounds, a large NYC Housing Project, but was once the site of the also famous Polo Grounds Stadium.

The area, the park, and the man, are legendary.
