Much mystery surrounds the creepiest of the five covered bridges in Northfield Vermont. Riddled with ghost tales, the bridge that spans the dog river on Slaughterhouse ln is a 60 foot long and 12 foot wide queenpost built around 1872. Its ominous sounding name comes from the nearby abandoned slaughterhouse. The bridge is set back from the main road on a narrow dirt road. Undaunted by the risk of injury, locals are known to jump from the bridge into the cool dark water. Despite this, it is one of the wonderful covered bridges of Vermont and makes for a great picture.
