Geocache Description:

PL
Obecnie jeden z najlepiej zachowanych w Polsce obiektów pouastriackiego budownictwa koszarowego, o charakterystycznym kwadratowym dziedzincu wewnetrznym, z arkadami zabudowanymi wielkimi oknami, jedyny w poludniowej Polsce obiekt zabytkowy tego typu.

ENG
This two storey building, typical of the old Austrian barrack building, was erected in 1827, however some sources report that it was built five years earlier. It was meant for the Austrian battalions of the 56th Regiment of Infantry, stationed in Wadowice from 1820. Many Poles from Wadowice and the neighbouring areas served there. From 1918, the 12th Regiment of Infantry was stationed here. It was famous for its bravery during the battles for the borders of the Republic of Poland in the years 1918-1920 and during the Polish September Campaign of 1939.
After the Second World War, the 18th Regiment of Infantry from Kolobrzeg was stationed here, and after 1955 the building became a production plant. Now, this is one of the best preserved objects of post-Austrian barrack building, characterized by the inner, square courtyard, with arcades with huge windows; this is the only building of its type in southern Poland.
Because of renovation, the cache is palced near the building.
