Stars in the Night Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

OReviewer: From the Northern Region Office, New Jersey State Parks Department:

Over a year ago New Jersey enacted a policy that all geocachers must obtain a permit to have their cache on State Park property. We have informed all geocaching host that this is their responsibility and have given them ample time to go about getting their permits. At this time, over a year later, there are still several caches that haven’t complied.

We ask that as the land managers for the attached properties we would like to have these illegal caches removed.

Based on the list provided by the state, I am forced to archive this listing. If you have a permit, get a permit or don't believe your cache is on state park/forest land, please contact me via email. Make sure you include the GC code.

If you don't plan to get a permit, please remove your geocache so it doesn't become geo-trash.

Geocache Description:

This is a regular size lock-n-lock (4X4X3) hidden near the Robinson Observatory in Voorhees State Park. This is the home of NJ Astronomical Association. This building houses the largest telescope open to the public. Their hours of operation are from Memorial Day through Oct 31, on Saturdays from 8:30PM to 10:30PM, and every Sunday afternoon from 2:00PM to 5:00PM. In the winter they are only open the fourth Saturday in November, February, March and April, with no Sunday hours. They are closed completely in December & January. For more information you may call 908-638-8500 or visit them on the web at www.njaa.org .

The cache is located along a trail that has a model of the solar system on sign as you travel the length of the short trail (1/4 mile). This solar system is a scale model of our universe and is only one of a few in the nation. You do not have to bushwhack more then 20 feet so stay on the trail.

Parking can be found near the entrance to the campground and it is a short walk to the cache. Another cache close by is “Round Valley View” GC108H9.
