Geocache Description:

This hike takes you on a one-mile loop on the newly-marked blue trail around part of Levi Pond at Pinnacle State Park. There may be a few side trips, so figure on the hike being a bit more than a mile. The terrain is easy except for the quick altitude change on the way back to your car. Be sure to wear orange during hunting season.

Levi built Levi Pond about 60 years ago. What else have we been able to find out about him? Not much. There once was a house with a barn and a hand-dug well near the lake; Levi might have lived there. If you care to brave the thorns to the east of N42 05.381 W077 12.420, you might enjoy exploring the remains of the old foundation. One recent winter a bear made his home there.

Levi may or may not have given his property to the state, but in any case we're calling this cache Levi's Gift because it is one of what we hope will become a series of "gift" caches. As is typical for a "gift" cache, we aren't telling you how many hides there are or what you'll be looking for, except to say that they're like the challenging hides used in the other caches in the series. We hope someone who finds this cache will choose to hide a "gift" cache in his or her home area.

Begin at the trailhead: N42 05.432 W077 12.710. Good luck and happy caching.
