This cache was placed on the Seven Runs Creek section of the
Florida
Trail System. There is parking along the road at the
trailhead or you can go about .2 miles North on HWY 81 and park
at the Seven Runs Creek Recreation Area. At the recreation
area there are picnic tables and a port-a-potty. The trail
was in great shape when we planted the cache and is suitable for
families with young children as long as they can hike the
distance. Trailhead is at N 30° 32.203 W 085° 55.303

Team PCBeach crossing Seven Runs Creek
The hiking trail is well marked with
orange blazes. The first mile of the
hike to the cache runs near the creek and is an interesting hike
for Florida. Once you leave the creek you will be walking
in a planted Pine Tree forest. Kind of boring, but there
are a few interesting sights along the way. In
addition to some various foliage, you will come across an old
irrigation system. This area must have been a farm in the
past as the the irrigation system is the type that waters large
areas of land. You can see the circles caused by this
system in the satellite image of our hike below.

Seven Runs Creek Hike - Cache is at center of second circle from
right.
Items of interest we encountered during out hike:
- Wild Boar - We startled a back of about 5 boars that were
drinking from the creek. We heard them snorting and running
(away thankfully) before we saw them.
- Deer - We spooked a White Tail Deer in the Pine Tree Forest
Area. It bounded away at a pretty slow pace.
- Large Bird - Flew off from the trees just ahead of us. We
guessed it was a large hawk.
- Banana Spiders - Like many Florida woods hikes, several places
on the trail were spanned by a Banana Spider web. These are Golden
Silk Spiders Nephila clavipes -- the harmless Banana Spiders. Their
bite is milder than a bee sting. Do not confuse them with the
aggressive brown banana spiders from South America who are VERY
DANGEROUS!
- Grasshoppers - Lots and lots of grasshoppers around the pine
trees.
Other items you might see in this type of area:
No hint is needed as the cache will be easy to find once you get
to the location. We hate having to hike miles for a cache and
then have to spend an hour looking for it on top of it..
