This cache was placed to celebrate Tim's 50th birthday who we have introduced to the joys of geocaching. Tim lives in the picturesque village of Abbotskerswell and this is a favourite walk of several in the area.
The location of the cache involves a walk along a very old Devon lane starting or finishing by a pub in Abbotskerswell. Slade Lane takes you up through Grange Copse and across the fields.
Abbotskerswell is a delightful, unspoilt historic village which is mentioned in the Doomsday Book with a 15th century church. Houses still exist in the village that were built in the 15th century including many traditional thatched cottages.
The lane is very stony and can be slippy through the Copse when wet so don't wear your high heals.
Near the pub end of the lane, make sure you stop and investigate the Ladewell, behind the small black door set in the wall.
