The cache is hidden at a place with very nice view, both in good and bad weather. Depending on the season, there might be sheep on the surrounding fields. The easiest place to cross the fence is between Digernestunnelen and Stordbrua (you should therefore walk through the tunnel first, if your parked on the recommended parking place).
The tunnel at Digernes was built as part of the impressive Trekantsambandet (The Triangular Link ), in order provide a safe place for animals to cross the road.
At a cost of 36 million NOK, the tunnel was controversial, as many had the opinion that the money should be used elsewhere.
Although it is officially named Digernestunnelen, it is also commonly called the Miljøtunnelen (the Environmental Tunnel) or, when it was built (not so anymore), as the Stord Enterance/gate.
In the area surrounding the tunnel archeologists have found some of Stord's oldest remains from the Stone-age. Several dwelling places were found, for instance in the valley just north of the tunnel (which you will pass on the way from the parking to where the cache is hidden).
