Devil's Soup Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

OReviewer: As there's been no cache to find for a long time or has had no owner response for at least 30 days, I'm archiving it to keep it from showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.

Please note that if geocaches are archived by a reviewer or Geocaching HQ for lack of maintenance, they are not eligible for unarchival.

Geocache Description:

This is #8 in the "SOUP FOR LUNCH" series of caches. THIS CACHE IS LOCATED WITHIN STATE GAME LANDS #221. PLEASE BE SURE TO WEAR BRIGHT ORANGE DURING HUNTING SEASON.

The "Soup for Lunch" series were designed to get you out of the office at lunchtime so you can take a nice walk through the woods and find a geocache. Each container is a small soup thermos that is brightly colored and is well camoflaged. This cache is located a short distance from the parking area.

The parking area for SGL #221 and is located at the sharp 90 degree turn on Devil's Hole Road. The trailhead is at the metal gate. Follow the Rhododendron lined trail down the hill to the cache area. As you get close to the cache, you will hear the sounds of the nearby stream. The cache is very close to the trail and is NOT down the steep embankment to the right. You do NOT need to cross the stream to find this one.

I hid the cache a day after a surprise October snowstorm. The trail was both snowy and muddy, and had lots of loose rocks, so hiking boots are recommended.

You might want to take a pen/pencil with you to sign the log.

Thank you to Cerberus1 for providing the cache containers.
