Located in Oak Mountain State Park. Cost to enter the park is $2 weekdays/$3 weekends per person. A topo map of the trails with GPS grid is highly recommended.
This cache starts at the TreeTop Nature Trail. Once you find the starting cache you have to choose which route you want to take to the final cache. There are 2 routes that lead to the final cache. The route you choose will determine what interesting nature scenes you see. Both routes are moderate to difficult hikes however one is about half the distance of the other. We won’t tell you which one though.
For either route plan to spend half a day hiking and be sure to go prepared with water and other hiking necessities. The stages leading to the final are all micros (35mm film canister or green waterproof matchboxes) but should be fairly easy to find and not far off marked trails. The final cache is an ammo can labeled with a geocaching.com label and the cacher Tribalized’s avatar image.
Both routes have 4 stages of micros then the final ammo can cache. When you log your find be sure to include which route you chose.
The original log book is used, but the first to this cache can claim the FTF as it is now a "new" cache. Feel free to visit again for a smile. If you go by both routes (on seperate days) you can log a second smilie.
Also be sure to check out other caches in the park before you go as you may be able to get several caches along the way.
