Geocache Description:

The cache is a small lock and lock and contains a logbook, pencils and a few trinkets

Spring Brook Shelter is located in the heart of Camden Hills State Park.Originally built by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC)in the late 1930's as a ski shelter and warming hut to serve the several ski trails on Mt Meguticook,it was razed in the 1990's.A new shelter was built with a generous grant from MBNA, by park crews, using the original plans, with lumber harvested, sawed, dryed and milled at the state park.
It is a nice walk in from either end of the road. The park crew has done a fantastic job rebuilding the road over the last 2-3 years and the views of Penobscot Bay along the section behind the campground are very nice after the leaves drop. Please wear some blaze orange if you come out during hunting season as only the front of the park is closed to hunting.
We walk out to the shelter and have lunch whenever we stay at the campground and Spring Brook is a great place to cool off during a summer hike.
The entrance to the park is on Route 1 north of Camden,or you can walk in from Stevens Corner, off Youngtown Rd in Lincolnville. It is a 4 mile round-trip if you go in from the main entrance or a 6 mile round-trip from Stevens Corner.
