Beda Fell Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Sheep Dip: I've double checked this cache and its coordinates today - and the box has definitely been removed - hence the archive. But I've placed another cache a little further on from this one where it's unlikely to be found by curious dogs, which I think was the fate of this one [:(]

Geocache Description:

½ litre plastic clip-box box containing a log book and pencil and the usual other bits and bobs. There's parking at Sandwick below Beda Fell with a steep ascent on a relatively easy path and a short scramble at the top.

This cache was placed during an ascent of Beda Fell from Sandwick followed by a drop down into Boredale Hause and Patterdale and along the lakeside path back to Martindale. From the top of Beda Fell you can look down onto the red roof of The Bungalow, a detached, single storey former shooting lodge that was constructed in 1910 by the Earl of Lonsdale (of Lowther Castle) for a visit by Kaiser Wilhelm to the Martindale deer shoot. It’s now owned by the Dalemain Estate and is let as a holiday cottage.
Keep a watch out for red squirrels in the woods surrounding the lakeside walk.
