"Once upon a time, 3 geocachers set out for a hike in the wilds of State Game Lands #221. Two of them had backpacks, each containing an ammo can to be hidden, and the third geocacher came along for the adventure. It was about 46 degrees out on a partly cloudy autumn afternoon. The three cachers made their way down the rhododendron lined trail to the bottom of the hill. The recent rains and surprise October snowfall turned the should-have-been gentle flowing creek into a raging river. Not wanting to cross the swiftly flowing creek, they made their way along the steep bank of the creek until they found some downed trees lying across the water. Carefully, they all crawled across the tree trunk to the other side of the creek. They continued up the leaf covered rocky trail until they saw that the trail continued on the other side the creek. Finding no easy way across, they realized that they had to get wet and walk through the water. The smart adventurous one took off her socks and sneakers and crossed, thus keeping her shoes dry. The other two just plunged into the rapidly flowing water and their hiking boots soon filled with cold water that came up to their knees. They managed to make it across and the three continued up the trail, which soon disappeared in the rocky leaf covered woods. Thinking they saw the trail on the other side of the creek, they found a very large tree trunk across the water and made their way across. Once they got to the other side, they realized that they had made an error, so they had to make their way back across the creek again. Continuing their hike along the edge of the creek, they had to crawl under several downed trees and hang onto tree roots and rhododendron branches to keep themselves from sliding into the water. After the ground evened out, one of them found a spot to hide her cache container. One down and one to go."
