Geocache Description:

Boatstrand, County Waterford.

This small fishing harbour is popular for boating and swimming. It was built in the late 1880s. The area was used for fishing and landing boats for a long time prior to it's construction, as the nearby headlands protect the strand from the prevailing south westerly winds.

Nearby points of interest include a restored well, the ruins of a lime kiln, sea caves and the remains of 19th century mining.

It is possible to drive down to the harbour at quiet times - park beyond the working areas near the cliffs. There are also sloping paths and steps leading down from the main road if you prefer the stroll and is a good way to enjoy the sea views.

The cache is a small round camouflaged tupperware box.

(The 39 Steps referred to in the 1935 film of the same name were an organisation of spies)
