Geocache Description:

Two Hundred FortySixth in the Famous People (FP) Series - Martin Milner
Martin Sam Milner
(born December 28, 1931) is best known for his performances in two popular television series, Adam-12 and Route 66. Funny how both shows are about 2 regular guys riding around in a car.

In 1952, Milner was drafted into the U.S. Army. In Special Services at Fort Ord on California's Monterey Bay peninsula, he directed training films and, with fellow actor/soldier David Janssen, emceed and performed in skits to entertain the soldiers. Milner and Janssen encouraged fellow soldier Clint Eastwood to pursue an acting career when his time in the Army ended. While in the Army, Milner continued working for Jack Webb, playing "Officer Bill Lockwood" (briefly the partner of "Sgt. Friday") and other characters on the Dragnet radio series on weekends. He also appeared on six episodes of Webb's Dragnet television series between 1952 and 1955.

Tod Stiles was born March 12, 1936, in New York. His father was the owner of a shipping company in New York City. In 1960, shortly after Tod's graduation from Yale University, the elder Stiles suffered a series of business misfortunes that left him bankrupt. He then died of a coronary thrombosis, leaving Tod an inheritance consisting of little more than a brand new convertible Chevrolet Corvette. With his future now in his own hands, Tod and his best friend Buz Murdock, an ex-gang member whom Tod’s father had taken under his wing, decided to hit the road in the new car, travelling across America to seek their fortune in a variety of different jobs.

Pete Malloy is a six year veteran of the Los Angeles police force. Malloy is planning to resign from the police department following the death of his partner, who was killed in the line of duty while trying to foil an armed robbery. Malloy is persuaded to stay on and train a new partner: rookie officer Jim Reed, fresh out of the police academy and a two-year stint in the Army. Reed has a lot of potential, but is green and overeager. Reed disobeys Malloy's direct order, but succeeds in safely arresting several armed persons. Malloy takes it on himself to mold Reed into one of Los Angeles' "finest," at which, as evidenced by later episodes, he succeeds.

Located in the Birdston Cemetery, a nearby marker for Gilbert and Bess Milner will let you know you are close. A silver bison tube is hidden just a few feet away. Access from the area of the Milner marker and use the provided access that is already there. No need to go *poking* around.
