Geocache Description:

A nice view of a local steel mill. Nice parking area and well hid in a thicket. Large 16x12 inch metal box painted brown and stuffed full of survival gear and a few kid's things.

This site is located on the Northeast side of Kentucky Electric Steel, just off their property. Kentucky Electric Steel was built by the Mansbach family in the early 1960's and went through many years of ups and downs. But in 2003, an investment group bought and reopened the site. They called back many of the workers and started up the Rolling Mill and Melt Shops. Today, Kentucky Electric Steel employees approximately 150 people and there hourly workers are represented by the United Steel workers Union. Kentucky Electric Steel is going strong today and is a vital part of our community and makes steel that is used in approximately 20,000 applications all over the world.

This cache is dedicated to survival because Kentucky Electric Steel has done just that over the years. There are items inside such as a poncho, pocket knife, whistle and a few other things you need in the woods. Also, there are some kid items. Please leave something that would be useful for us in the outdoors.

There shouldn't be any muggles around to bother you, and there is a great parking spot in front of an old gate that has long since been closed and is no longer in use. You will have a good view of the finished products that KES makes from the location of the cache. It's not inside the fence so have fun!!!

Congrats go to LTJGWorth for being the first to find!!!! Also, thanks for keeping with the survivor theme.

ON ON!!!
