Geocache Description:

A couple of months ago, this section of Plymouth Creek Park was a rarely-used, empty grassy field. Now it is home to six Bocce Ball courts built specifically for Special Olympic Athletes to compete and practice on!

Cache Details

This past summer, 105 volunteers from a local manufacturing company and a national home improvement retail chain built and prepped the bocce ball courts, benches, and pergolas that you see here now. The two companies donated all the building materials, tools, equipment, and people while the Special Olympics and the City of Plymouth organized the event and helped with site preparation and cleanup. Volunteers came from as far away as Forest Lake and St. Cloud to work on the project, which was completed in two days.

After everything was done, I got a few strange looks when I wandered off into the woods instead of following the group to the parking lot. But I had never been into this side of the woods before, and was pretty happy to find a spot to hide a piece of tupperware!

Location, Parking, and Access

The Bocce Ball courts are on the NE side of the Millenium Gardens and Plymouth Creek Center parking lot. The courts are open to the public for general use, when not previously booked by the Special Olympics. From the courts, you're just around the corner from the disc golf course and the cache. You're looking for a regular-sized Lock 'n Lock, which starts out with an assortment of camping goodies, a geocoin, and assorted toys and trinkets hand-selected from the 'Noles kidlets' personal collections. I hope you enjoy the area, and as always - thanks, have fun, and happy hunting!
