One of many ghost towns in Sumner County
Welcome to Ewell! Our research shows that this was a town at one time, but not in my lifetime. As a youth, I can remember a few agricultural buildings here and maybe the remains of a grain elevator.
At one time, the Missouri Pacific line from Argonia to Conway Springs ran through here. Thirty years ago, the tracks had a 20 mph speed limit. Now the tracks are gone. All that remains is a diagonal driveway east of here and the old railroad bed to the southwest.
Wait, there's a fairly new house over there to the east! I wonder if they know they live in Ewell? Didn't bother to ask. Ewell is so far gone that I even the ghosts have left. I couldn't find a sign or a cemetery, just the topo and my memory. Will be looking in old Sumner County history books for more while you look for the cache.
It's not a hard one. A magnetic keyholder without a pencil. Watch out for traffic, but don't watch too long since it could be a long wait between cars, trucks and tractors.
