Ol' Bucketmouth Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

cpfoley71: Just my luck. I stuck this cache under a tree that was probably 100 years old. I went by today to check on it and the whole area was bulldozed flat. No more cache. They're working on a dam near GZ.

Geocache Description:

This is a two-part multi-cache. Both parts are located in Maskell's Mill Pond WMA. The two parts are fairly close, but it's better to drive between them. The first stage is a micro with the coordinates to the main cache inside. The 2nd stage is an ammo box.

I fish here a lot. It's a great place to get away from it all, down in rural South Jersey. I've caught some nice fish here, but not the elusive "Ol' Bucketmouth." Legend has it he's big as whale. He's been known to pull unwary fishermen in the drink. If you hook him, be careful he doesn't pull you over the dam. He's a wiley critter, and lurks deep in the millfoil, or maybe just below the dam.

The main cache contains a tackle box for the FTF with some gear that might come in handy in your quest for Ol' Bucketmouth. Other good swag too: a bobber, some plastic grubs, a bunch of fishing-related toys, a "Big Fish (like Ol' Bucketmouth)/ Little Fish" card came, and even a fish which can tell your fortune.

If you're into history, a flour mill was first erected near here in 1705. Here's a link to an excellent short video about the history of Maskell's Mill.

There's lots of great history nearby. Check out the "Hancock House." It's just a few miles away. British troops massacred a small militia in the house during the Revolutionary War.

It's a beautiful area. It's far from the stereotype of what New Jersey is like. Come on down and explore. I think you'll agree it's worth the trip.
