Geocache Description:

This is Vermont: Chittenden County

This cache is part of the Vermont 251 Plus 4 Geocaching Club, an attempt to bring caches to each and every town, city and gore in the state of Vermont!

Located in the northwestern part of the state, Chittenden County is Vermont's most populated county. Chittenden County is named for Thomas Chittenden, the first governor of Vermont (1778-1789, 1790-1797). Chittenden County is made up of 17 towns and cities and 1 gore. The county seat is Burlington, the largest city in Vermont. Chittenden County is bordered on the west by Lake Champlain, Franklin County to the north, Lamoille and Washington Counties to the east, and Addison County to the south.

The cache is NOT located at the posted coordinates.

To find this cache you must first travel around Chittenden County and find all 18 "This is Vermont" caches; one for each city, town, and gore (listed below) that make up the county. In each of these town caches you will find two codes numbers, one for north and one for the west. When you have found all 18 caches simply add together all of the north code numbers to reveal the north coordinate and all the west code numbers to reveal the west coordinate for the Chittenden County cache. You must log a find for all 18 municipalities before you can log a find for this county cache. This cache will be found within two miles of the posted coordinates, so you may want to plan your route accordingly. The difficulty and terrain rating for this cache reflect the overall difficulty of finding all 18 municpality caches for Chittenden County and the distance one will have to travel to find them all.
