Der Weg:
Los geht's am Parkplatz der Kenzenhütte. Von dort ca. 5 km am Halblech entlang flussaufwärts. Schließlich nach links 600 m auf einer Schotterstraße am Röthenbach entlang bis zum Geotop. Im Sommer kann man bis zur Reiselsbergbrücke mit dem Kenzenbus fahren.
Zurück ca. 300 m südlich vom Flysch zum Panoramaweg rechts hinauf abbiegen. Von diesem Weg aus traumhafte Ausblicke auf die Gipfel des Ammergebirges! Zum Schluss wieder am Halblech entlang zum Cache und danach zum Parkplatz.
Alle Wege sind fahrrad- (MTB oder Tourenrad) und kinderwagentauglich. Beim Panoramaweg geht es kräftiger hinauf bzw. hinab. Wer's nicht so sportlich mag, kann auch den Hinweg zurückgehen, die Steigung hier ist sehr moderat.
Hinweise:
Bei diesem Cache steht die schöne Landschaft im Vordergrund, daher sind unterwegs nur 5 einfache Fragen zu beantworten und erst zum Schluss einmal die Final-Koords auszurechnen. Dafür bieten sich Bank und Tisch an Stage5 förmlich an!
Weil wir uns hier im Naturschutzgebiet Ammergebirge bewegen (übrigens dem größten in Deutschland!), darf der Cache nicht am Flysch im Röthenbachtal liegen, sondern er liegt am Rande des NSG.
Am Flysch steht eine Bank, an der sich idealerweise die mitgebrachte Brotzeit (Einkehr gibt's keine auf dem Weg!) verspeisen lässt. Mittags sogar im herrlichen Sonnenschein (so sie denn scheint).
Der Cache ist wintertauglich. Es sollte aber nicht zu viel Schnee liegen, denn die Wege werden nicht geräumt.
Was ist eigentlich Flysch?
Als Flysch (von schweizerdeutsch: fliessen) wird eine besondere Gesteinsformation bezeichnet, die in der jüngeren Kreidezeit durch sog. Trübeströme (Gemisch aus Wasser und Schlamm) entstand. Die Formationen, die der Röthenbach bei Halblech freigelegt hat, sind etwa 85 Millionen Jahre alt. Sie zeigen besonders schön die für Flysch typische rythmische Wiederholung von Ablagerungszyklen. Durch tektonische Verschiebungen wurden sie gefaltet und stehen nun teilweise senkrecht!
Flysch findet sich in vielen Gebirgen der Erde, der sog. Rhenodanubische Flysch liegt im Übergangsbereich der Alpen zum nördlichen Alpenvorland.

Ein kleiner Hinweis noch: am Final ist definitiv keine Kletterei notwendig!

The Tour:
Start at the parking of the Kenzenhütte and follow the river Halblech upstream for approx. 5 km. Finally turn left on a dirt road and you will reach the geological site after approx. 600 m. In summer you can use the Kenzenbus bringing you to the Reiselsbergbrücke.
On your way back turn right approx. 300 m south of the Flysch. This panorama trail will provide gorgeous views on the mountains of the Ammergebirge! Finally follow again the river Halblech towards the cache and the parking.
All paths are suitable for cyclists (touring or MTB) and for strollers. The panorama trail has stronger ascents/decents. If you like it more convenient, simply follow back the same way you came (only very moderate inclines).
Remarks:
This cache is focussing on the beautiful landscape. On your way you will have to answer only 5 simple questions. For the single final calculation Stage5 will be a very nice place!
You are walking in the nature protection area Ammergebirge (which is the largest in Germany), therefore the cache may not be placed at the Flysch in the Röthenbachtal, but is located at the areas boundary.
At the Flysch you will find a bank to have your meal (there is no restaurant along the way!). At noon there is a wonderful sunshine (if it's not cloudy).
The cache can be found in winter. However, there should'nt be too much snow, because the paths will not be cleared of snow.
What does it mean: Flysch?
Flysch (swiss: float) is a special geological formation which was formed in the Cretaceous. Our formation was uncovered from the river Röthenbach near Halblech and has an age of about 85 mio years. It shows in an outstanding manner the rhythmic recurrence of sediment cycles. Due to tectonic movements they have been folded and are now partially standing in an upright position.
Flysch is found in many mountains all over the world. The so called Rhenodanubische Flysch is located in the transition zone of the alpes to their norhtern foreland.
