Geocache Description:

Scenic Cache Near the "Troll Bridge"

Cache is a medium sized camoed tupperware container hidden near the bridge over Pailin Creek leading to the "blimp" hanger.

Road leads into TCOM, one of the United States' few airship factories. Many of the nations commerical airships are made and serviced here. TCOM is located on the property which was a WWII antisubmarine Naval Base (Weeksville Naval Airstation). In the age before helicopters, airships had the capability to hover for extended periods, and carry the sensors and armament needed to protect shipping off the coast. Before operations began at Weeksville NAS, one ship was lost every other day to enemy submarines off the coast of North Carolina. With the protection of the airships this number dropped to one every two and one half months. You may notice 4 huge pillars. These are the ruins of Airdock #2 which burned in a spectacular blaze in 1995. This hanger had been the largest wooden structure in the world.

Cashe contains trade items, log & pen. Careful for Muggles. Sometimes folks fish from the bridge, be stealthy. Can be easily accessed from the road. Step carefully, ground can be uneven.

My kids are always on the lookout for trolls living around this bridge....maybe you should be too.....
