On the daybreak of June 22nd, 1941, when the war between Nazi Germany and USSR had begun, a decrepit Latvian steamer “Gaisma” with a timber cargo on board ”set its sail” to a certain German port. The sun was only halfway raised when two German motor torpedo-boats approached “Gaisma” on rapid pace. Cannon shots shook the air. Two shells exploded on the deck, after a couple of seconds torpedoes hit the ship’s side and “Gaisma” started to sink. Sailors rushed into water, others tried to get a lifeboat to the surface, but German cutters fired with machineguns at the sinking ship and the sailors. When the Germans where a distance away a senior navigator from “Gaisma” started to gather the alive sailors to a lifeboat, but many where already dead. Ship’s skipper was injured badly, but alive, he got to the boat too.
It was obvious that the war between two countries had begun and the reason why the Germans attacked “Gaisma” was a red USSR flag on its mast. Without any fresh water, food or other supplies the remained sailors drifted for 90 miles and hit the shore near the Uzava lighthouse.
To reach the place where the skipper hid his treasure chest you will have to find two towers. The coordinates of the chest are written with black paint at the top of both tower platforms. Be careful.

We suggest you to go there by foot to see the Uzava lighthouse, former USSR border defense objects and the various landscapes.
