Geocache Description:

You can reach the parking area by taking Allen Street off Pleasant Street off route 28. The parking area does not require a sticker, but most of the parking is taken by the slipholders, especially in the summertime. The cache IS NOT on private property. Please be respectful!

Bass River, which separates the towns of Yarmouth and Dennis, bustles with boating activity in the summer and is picturesque any time of year. Home to the Pawkunnakwut Indians and settled by the Quakers, Bass River’s shore in the 19th century was lined with packet ships and small vessels, ship building, rows of salt works extracting salt from the sea, and cordage works. Today Packet Landing, one of four marinas on Bass River, has the most highly sought after public slip rentals in the Town of Yarmouth. It is said to take years for your "name" to come up for availability and there is a cost to keep your name on the waiting list.
