The SQ in the cache name above signifies Spirit Quest, a project by the Northwest Ohio Geocachers to distinguish those caches that are set in cemeteries or memorial gardens. I decided to copy that indicator for our cemetery caches to highlight cemeteries in the area.
Please be respectful of the area, and observe the posted hours which are sunrise to sunset.
This cache is to replace "Tranquility" which had to be archived because it was discovered to be on private property. The up side is that it gives a new cache to hunt for in the area
This is a quiet little picturesque cemetery on the North bank of the Thames River, named after one of the first settlers on the Thames just west of the present village of Louisville, which is also named after him. Part of his homestead was set aside for the purpose of the Arnold cemetery. Lewis for a time was a tavern-owner in the village.
It is unknown why the village is called Louisville and not Lewisville, but people of the area always pronounce the "s" (as in the name Lewis).
If you like small country cemeteries, you will love this one which, because of it’s isolation, will seem to take you back to earlier days along the Thames.
Look around while you are there and enjoy the peace and tranquility that this spot gives.
