Geocache Description:

Southwest Albuquerque, terrain is mostly level dirt. Cache should be an easy park and grab.

Camp Albuquerque was a World War II prisoner of war camp that was located in Albuquerque's South Valley. The original camp was located on the property of the current Albuquerque Zoo. This bothered the locals and the camp was moved out of the city limits to south second.
The camp housed Italian and German P.O.W's.
Prisoners did mostly farm work in the area.
The camp was open at this location from 1944 till 1946. The occupancy peaked at about 171 P.O.W's.
All that remains today is the old concrete slabs of the barricks.
I thought that this was a cool bit of Albuquerque's history.
Cache is not on private property, so no need to cross the fence.
