Geocache Description:

Nice drive off the beaten track.

This cache is high above the Tuckasegee River in Jackson County, NC. Barkers Creek flows into the “Tuck” just west of Dillsboro. Follow the creek up towards High Top about as far as you can. This is an easy park and grab, after your vehicle has made the steep and winding climb up Rockdale Road. You will pass along a pretty little valley where the real North Carolinians live. Don’t miss the little patch of Christmas trees down on the right below the road, not long after you cross the river. Turn left in front of the Rockdale Missionary Baptist Church. Parking is on the shoulder of the road, so take only one vehicle. After the cache drive on up the road and take a left on Hawks Ridges Drive. Keep an eye out on the right side and you'll find a place to pull off and take a look at a great long distance view of the Smokies.

April 2015: New Container. Should stay dry now.
