Geocache Description:

Located at a stunning lagoon location within Wagga Wagga is one of only a few monuments within Australia dedicated to Alfred Bernard Nobel.Known for many things ,but very few people know he was the inventor of "Dynamite".

Born in Stockholm on the 21st October 1833,Nobel was a Swedish chemist ,engineer, innovator, armaments manufacturer and the inventor of dynamite. Nobel found that when nitroglycerin was incorporated in an inert substance like kieselguhr ,it became safer and more convenient to handle, and this mixture he patented in 1867 as dynamite.Nobel later on combined nitroglycerin with another explosive,gun-cotton,and obtained a transparent ,jelly-like substance, which was more powerful explosive than dynamite.Gelignite,or blasting gelatin as it was branded, was patended in 1876.

Nobel died of a stroke on December 10 th 1896 at San Remo ,Italy. He left 31 million kronor (millions in US dollars) to fund the prizes .Since 1901,the Nobel prize has honoured men and women for outstanding achievements in physics, chemistry, medicine, literature and for work in peace. The cache is a micro well disguised ,a short distance from the Nobel monument near the Peace Monument and contains a small log book and pencil within a zip-lock bag. Please do not reveal anything about the hide within the logs and it is most important the cache is replaced "EXACTLY" how you found it,to avoid accidental detection.Thank you.Whilst here take your time to read the "Peace' memorial and 3 other well dedicated monuments.

Cache is on cannon.
