A short but fairly steep hike from the nearest trail entrance, this cache will lead you along a trail that you might otherwise have missed.
Goldstream Park was the site of a gold rush during 1862-63, attracting about 500 prospectors -- many of them refugees from the Cariboo and California gold rushes. By 1864, almost all of them had moved on to the nearby Leech river. The only traces of these hardy souls today within the park are three mineshafts -- two on the East side of Goldstream River and one on the west -- and the trails that provided access for the miners and their horses. It is likely that Miner's Spring provided a convenient source of water as they worked on the quartz seam only a few hundred feet further along the trail.
