This is a bosque cache located between the westmost of the two irrigation canals and the river. Canal crossings are located just west of the 2nd st. parking and at Rio Bravo Blvd. Plan accordingly.
Dedicated to the unbelievably good ABC TV series "Lost". I am a dedicated and devoted fan, and an unofficial Lost trivia expert.
Each cache is loosely tied to the character or notable place of the show it is named after - either through difficulty (complexity of the character/place), or size. Or both. You can always contact me about any of my hides if you need help.
The caches are as follows:
#1 - Jin-Soo Kwon. Not a big guy, more smallish-regular. Fully capable of anything the larger characters can do. Cache is a large "small" with room for logbook, pencil, swag, Travel Bugs and Geocoins. Since Jin is a complicated character, this hide is slightly more difficult than a "dead easy" find.
#2 - Benjamin Linus. Micro, and a tough find. This relates not to Ben's physical size, but his extreme complexity and mystery that constantly baffles the other Lost survivors. This hide is the only one that has a hint, for good reason. Cache is a micro and is log only, so bring your own pencil.
#3 - James "Sawyer" Ford. He's a regular sized guy with a gruff exterior, but a "nice guy" hidden inside. The character is complex, but easy to read and understand. The hide is an easy one with lots of room for logbook, pencil, Travel Bugs with hitchhikers, and Geocoins. It's about the same volume as a 2-quart Lock-n-Lock, but is a metal cookie can.
#4 - Hugo "Hurley" Reyes. Since Hurley is the largest character, the cache is also the largest, a cavernous container with easily as much room as a .30 cal. ammo can, and maybe as much as a .50 cal., but don't look for an ammo can because this was a large popcorn can in its pre-cache life. Plenty of room for logbook, pencil, swag, as a Travel Bug/hitchhiker "hotel", and Geocoins aplenty. Please replace the camo exactly as found - it is quite critical on this hide because of its size. Thanks. Since Hurley is easy-going, so is this cache. It should be a very easy find.
#5 - Jack "Doc" Shephard. He's a regular sized guy with a no-nonsense attitude, but highly intelligent. He can be headstrong at times. The character is multi-faceted, but likeable. Jack is a natural leader, and is the leader of the mid-section survivors. This cache is very much like Jack - straightforward. The hide is an easy one with room for logbook, pencil, Travel Bugs with hitchhikers, and Geocoins. It's about the same volume as a 2-quart Lock-n-Lock, but is a metal cookie can.
#6 - Kate "Freckles" Austen. Not as petite as Sun or Claire, and a bit tomboyish. She has a hard time telling the truth, and is very stubborn. Kate has father issues, but then, so does everyone on the island! She currently has the romantic interest of both Jack and Sawyer. This cache is much like her. It's listed as a "small" size, reflecting Kate's overall build. Cache is a decon container, and has room for logbook, pencil, TBs with small hitchhikers, geocoins and a few small swag. The hide is a fairly easy one, but may require some light bushwhacking depending on the season.
#7 - Claire Littleton. The camp "cutie" - a pixie-ish Aussie girl who is 8 months pregnant at the time of the crash. She is strong, but has the whole hormone thing adding to the confusion of the situation. She usually speaks her mind, and voices her displeasure when Charlie messes up, which is quite often. Sawyer calls her "Barbie" occasionally. The cache matches Claire's size - small. It's a salsa jar that's on the large side for a "small". Hide is straightforward, like Claire, and shouldn't require too much effort.
#8 - Sun-Hwa Kwon. Jin's wife, also Korean, and a speaker of English - something that nobody knew for quite a while - even Jin. Sun is an Asian beauty, tiny and petite, strong of character, and has a secret (or two). The cache reflects Sun's character - a little harder to find, and a little smaller than most of the other Lost caches. It's a camo-ed relish jar with room for logbook, pencil, some small TBs, geocoins, and small swag. Bushwhacking isn't likely needed, but the cache is a fair hike (but not too far) from either the Rio Grande Blvd. or the Nature Center parking, so the terrain difficulty is "2.5".
A little bit about the character "Sawyer". He starts out being the reclusive "bad boy", hoarding supplies and food from the plane, fighting with everyone, and basically not fitting in. As the survivors experience more fear about the island, Sawyer slowly changes into someone who is protective about others, has a good sense of fair play, and has the hots for Kate. Eventually he becomes one of the people you would most like to have on a jungle excursion with you.
