Please do not let the title deter you away from doing this mutli cache hide. There is no danger here, but in the 1950's may have been another story if you lived here back then.
You are looking for a plaque at WP1, that was placed here in March 2008, by the Little River Historical Society, to remember the events of yesteryear. This area was once part of only a few legal street racing for motor bikes and side cars. The event being The Australian Tourist Trophy Championship. (With much thanks to Les Sanderson, President of the Little River Historical Society, ( http://home.vicnet.net.au/~lrhs/ ) for his ongoing help on getting the information needed to continually update this cache with information)
The Little River Road Circuit was first identified and developed into a fully fledged racing circuit by Reg Bennett of the Auto Cycle Union and Norm McCubbin, past president of the Harley Club of Victoria, although the roads around Little River had long been used for testing and speed trailing. It would become one of few racing circuits on public roads, with most other meetings held on circuits that were closed to normal traffic, such as airstrips and decommissioned American Army bases. The circuit was fast and challenging, winding its way around the township amongst farms and houses, past stonewalls and buildings. The surface was sealed, but large shoulders of gravel provided an additional challenge, as riders used all of the available road to straight-line the corners. Riders often had to rely on faith and courage to get them through, as emerging from a cloud of dust and blinded by the morning sun, they hoped that their way was clear of fallen machines and riders. Hay-bales were strategically placed to protect riders from the worst obstacles, but still many remained to threaten their safety, such as a large outcrop of volcanic boulders on a sweeping bend, stonewalls, barbed-wire fences, street signs and lamp-posts. Unlike many circuits with long straights and few corners, the Little River circuit, with its twisting layout was a true test of a riders’ skill. Riders really had to ride their machines through the corners, giving those with machines of lesser top speeds a chance against the fastest motorcycles, if only they could keep their speed up through the bends. The circuit promised to deliver fast and furious racing, and visitors to the Little River TT’s were not disappointed. For some riders, the circuit gave the atmosphere of a miniature Isle of Man, with the road winding through the center of the town with its stonewalls and churches. Many would lament the loss of racing at Little River, believing it could have been a great race circuit in the tradition of road races of Europe. A Warning in the original event program was as followed. “PUBLIC NOTICE” You are now on The Little River Circuit. There is an ELEMENT OF DANGER in Motor Cycle Racing, And a possibility of ACCIDENTS occurring, With resultant in injury to the persons and property. It is a condition of admittance to this course that the Organizers of this meeting, its Servants and Agents, And the various Competitors take No Responsibility whatever for any occurrence. ALL PERSONS THEREFORE ENTER AT THEIR OWN RISK. You are looking for a 100mm diameter PVC tube with screw cap, made to look like a piston head for the theme of the cache, about the equivellant of a 1.2litre container. Inside are the usual, log book, pen, swaps in the theme of the topic and a few other swaps. There is also a FTF prize which is a Limited Edition 2007 Moto GP championship Casey Stoner Ducati cast model, this is NOT in the cache due to it being a little too big, so it is in another container under the hide cache.
All answers are on the plaque, and you need to use that information to work out the location of GZ by answering the following questions.
To work out Co-ordinates to GZ.
1. Year the events started ? = ABCD
2. Average speed in MPH? = EF
3. Year Australian T.T. race planned for, and would fail to gain sanction from authorities, bringing to an end motorcycle racing at the Little River Circuit? = GHIJ
4. Distance over the Rothwell Rd parts in Yards(all 3 parts, you may need to use a melways, as the image does not have street names on the plaque) ? = KLMN
Now to do the maths
S37° C(J+D).M(C+K)J
E144° K(E+A).HCE
Please use gloves when retreiving the Cache, and please put back so it can not be seen from the public. Thank you.
Note: 21/8/16 Due to the original GZ being compromised I have had to change the coords and sums
