Il calcio a Treviso mosse i suoi primi passi nel 1909, allorquando fu fondata la prima società che partecipò ai campionati regionali minori.
A metà degli anni ’30 il Treviso Calcio disputa il suo primo campionato di serie B, esperienza ripetuta in più circostanze almeno fino al caos conseguente alla Seconda Guerra Mondiale.
Per rivedere la formazione veneta a buoni livelli bisogna attendere il 1950, quando in panchina siede uno dei maestri del calcio italiano, il “paron” Nereo Rocco”.
Sono probabilmente questi gli anni migliori del calcio trevigiano, fenomeno che, lentamente, scema a vantaggio di altre discipline sportive.
I biancoazzurri precipitano inesorabilmente nelle categorie inferiori fino a conoscere l’onta del fallimento.
Nel 1993 nasce la nuova società che, nel giro di pochi anni, riesce a risalire dalla C2 fino alla serie B dove resta, ininterrottamente, dal 1997 al 2001.
Nell’estate del 2005, a seguito di uno dei primi scandali calcistici italiani, il Treviso, dopo una sfortunata stagione conclusasi con la sconfitta ai playoff contro il Perugia, viene ammesso d’ufficio in serie A, traguardo raggiunto per la prima volta nella sua storia.
Oltre a quello dell’allenatore Rocco, il nome più altisonante che ha vestito la casacca della compagine veneta è senza dubbio quello dell’attaccante della nazionale Luca Toni che, con i suoi gol, ha avuto modo di deliziare la platea dell’Omobono Tenni, lo stadio (capienza 10.000 spettatori) inaugurato nel 1933 in cui il Treviso disputa le sue gare casalinghe.
