The Chase Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Mimi & Bod: Due mainly to family commitments, a lot of to-ing and fro-ing, feeling poorly and the complexity of the hides it's been difficult to keep this old cache going, so now that Mimi & Bod will be permanently moving away from the EoE, the only sensible solution is to archive it.

Thanks to all the finders for the favourite points and lovely logs [:X]

Geocache Description:

Limited parking is available in The Chase at the given coordinates. Additional roadside parking is available, but please make sure you park responsibly. The nearest bus stops are Vancouver Avenue/Sidney Street or Vancouver Avenue/York Road.

You will need to find six individual stages (please replace exactly as found!) before you reach the final, which has room for geocoins and travel bugs. Each stage will provide you with the coordinates for the next, so make sure you record the information provided. To find the first stage, you must solve the puzzle below.

The walk (from the parking coordinates and back again) will cover approximately 1.5 miles.
The terrain is easy-going and pushchair-friendly but some parts of the path will become muddy after rain. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times, and children should be closely supervised.

This area can be very busy, so stealth will be required.
This has been factored into the difficulty rating.

The Puzzle
One day, Mimi & Bod were waiting for a bus. They waited, and waited, and waited, and waited, and waited, and waited, and waited, and waited (yawn) when...
...suddenly, a line of 10 brightly coloured buses arrived from Nowhere (via Somewhere Else).
First you need to place the buses in the correct order of arrival, so here goes:

The red bus arrived behind the blue bus. The yellow bus arrived in front of the purple bus. The brown bus arrived behind the orange bus. The black bus arrived in front of the green bus, and behind the purple bus. The pink bus arrived behind the brown bus, and in front of the yellow bus. The red bus arrived in front of the orange bus. The blue bus arrived behind the white bus.

It might make the task easier if you print, colour in, and cut out the little buses below
(a mini-cacher would come in handy for this bit).

Now that you have the buses in the right order, use the following formula to work out the coordinates for the first stage:

N52° (bc-1 = ?) (bc-0 = ?). (bc+4 = ?) (bc+3 = ?) (bc-4 = ?)
E000° (bc-2 = ?) (bc-2 = ?). (bc+1 = ?) (bc-1 = ?) (bc-3 = ?)

('bc' = bus colour. Count the number of letters in each colour, e.g. 'red' = 3 letters, etc. and then perform the required calculation).

You can check your answer for this puzzle on Geochecker.com
(Make sure you input your coordinates correctly!)

A FTF certificate, pin & themed, ready-to-go TB await the First Finder,
so let the race begin...

This cache was originally placed as the finishing post for a TB race from Caithness in Scotland to King's Lynn. The winner was Charley's Alter Ego (owned by reddeeps), who arrived on 26 June 2009.
