Mesto Turnov se rozkladana rozhrani dvou geologicko- geografickych celku Ceskeho masivu. Zavedeme Vas do jeho severni casti, která je soucasti Jestedsko-Kozakovskeho hrebenu, jimz si reka Jizera razí cestu od Zelezneho Brodu a Male Skaly k Louzku, Dolankam a Turnovu.Mestke casti Bukovina a Kobylka lezi na ostrohu, ktery vybiha do tohoto udoli smerem severovychodnim a strme spada k rece Jizere. Bukovy les na severu ostrohu je prírodni rezervaci, kde je chranena predevsim preslicka obrovská.
The town Turnov is situated at the edge of two geological-geographical units of the Bohemian Massif. We will introduce you its northern fraction which is a part of Ješted-Kozákov ridge, where the river Jizera thrusts its way from Železný Brod to Malá Skála to Loužek to Dolánky to Turnov. Bukovina and Kobylka, two back town parts, are situated on the promontory of this ridge which is running out into the Jizera valley in the north-eastern direction with its slopes falling down to the river really steeply. Beech forest on the northern slope of the promontory is a nature preserve where especially Great Horsetail is protected.
Souradnice Vas zavedou k sose Svateho Jana na zacatku ostrohu, kde si doplnite udaje nutne k vypoctu souradnic. Zde se Vam odkryje prekrasný rozhled do kraje. Od JZ uvidite Bezdez, Vysker, Hlavatici, Valdstejn, Trosky, na severovychode mezi stromy Zbirohy. Cestou k cili se Vam nejprve otevre na vychode pohled na Kozakov, po chvili pak na severozapade osada Zaborci pod skalnim mestem Drabovna, Frydstejn, Kopanina a Jested. "Na konecné" si prohlednete sever a severovychod- Zbirohy, Michovku, v popredi pak prirodni rezervaci Buciny u Rakous s opukovymi skalami.
The given coordinates will lead you to the St.John's statue at the beginning of the promontory. Here you get still unknown data to calculate the the final coordinates. A beautiful view of the town Turnov and its broad surroundings opens up here to you. From south-west towards left you can see Bezdez, Vysker, Hlavatice, Valdstejn, Trosky, in the north-eastern direction you might get view of Zbirohy among the trees. As you go on to the east Kozákov catches your eye and after a while to the north-west village Záborcí under the rocky town Drábovna, Frydstejn, Kopanina and Jested as well. "At the endpoint" you might see Zbirohy, Michovka, in front of them then a nature preserve Buciny (by Rakousy) and the opoka rocks.
