Geocache Description:

A celebration cache to 'give back' to the community, following my 500th FTF.

I was out for a nice hike with sargenv for a joint FTF on a nearby cache. I've done a fair amount of hiking in this park over the years - but I'd never entered from the Bonita (or Monte Cresta) trailheads before. The cache is just over a mile in from the latter.

You'll start your walk much further up the ridge than, say, from the Clark Road Trailhead. After the FTF, we decided to press on - as I had a cache that I wanted to deploy, and I was intrigued by what I'd seen on Google Earth when scoping out the area.

There's some sort of compound, or house, or otherwise secluded property - plopped right in the midst of the park (of course, it's not IN the park - the signs, and multiple barb wire fences, make that quite clear). We walked along the perimeter, trying to check it out: but you can't see anything from out here, as the property is lined with large trees.

Eventually we passed the compound, and I had my sights set on what appeared to be the 'peak' of this part of the ridge, just up ahead. There was definitely some UPs and DOWNs - but it wasn't too bad. We made it to the peak, walked up around the back (just above the trail), and I started to look for a place to hide this lock-n-lock. Wishing now I'd taken the time to camo it - as it's quite visible once you get to this spot. I'm hoping that not a lot of people will, and those that do, either won't notice, go to the effort, or at least be respectful.

The name of the cache describes the placement: I wasn't particularly thrilled with the hide - but geographically, this was the spot: The time and the place, where I was going to hide this cache. I walked down and around a bit, looking for other spots - but you won't have to.

Note the thorn attribute, though - and bring a walking stick, or something else to aid with the retrieval in the event it becomes more overgrown. I was able to place and extract it without any help, or blood loss - but conditions change.

Also note the poison oak attribute: While there was none within the immediate vicinity of the cache - there were several LARGE bushes of it (lacking foliage this time of year, but still dangerous). No need to go anywhere near it - but again, conditions change, so I only point it out to get your attention.

There's a White Jeep TB in the cache, as well as a variety of decent schwag - please trade even so it doesn't become a junk box.

While you're up here, be sure to enjoy the views of the San Francisco Bay: the city skyline, the bridges, Mt. Tam, and the bay.

From here, it's not all that far down to the Clark Road cache - and that's precisely what we did on this sunny fall Friday afternoon.
