Callaway Gardens is graciously opening their gates with free admission the months of January and February. This gives us a wonderful opportunity to hold the January meeting at this beautiful location. What a great way to kick off the New Year!
As a "Thank You" to Callaway Gardens for offering the use of their facilities the Chattahoochee Valley Cachers will set up an information table to answer questions about geocaching to both new cachers and the public. We are also holding various geocaching classes from 10:00 am through 12:30 pm. If anyone is interested in volunteering to work at the table or give a class please let us know. We are still working on the class schedule and will update the page when it is finalized.
The GGA meeting will be held in the Lecture Hall at the Callaway Discovery Center, posted coordinates, from 2:00 until 4:00. Guest speaker for the meeting is Ranger Sam from FDR State Park. We will finish up with a raffle so bring something for the table if you can.
Plan to come early so you can enjoy the day discovering all the activities around the garden.

Geocaching:
There are more than 20 geocaches hidden throughout Callaway Gardens.
Callaway Discovery Center:
A staffed information desk provides you with an overview of all there is to see and do in the Callaway Gardens' 13,000 acres. Inside an orientation theater, the film Time and The Gardens plays continuously, depicting the evolution of Callaway Gardens. The Center also houses an education wing, lecture hall, exhibit hall, the Discovery Gift Shop, and Discovery Café. Visit the transportation court if you would like to rent a bike if you would like to ride around the gardens.
Birds of Prey shows are in the Discovery Amphitheater near the Virginia Hand Callaway Discovery Center.
The magnificent birds of prey featured in these outdoor, free-flighted shows, demonstrate their strength, speed and natural instincts at a lakeside amphitheater that allows the creatures to swoop directly over spectators' heads. Shows are 12:30 and 2:00.
John A. Sibley Horticultural Center:
It's the perfect garden because something's always in bloom at the Horticultural Center. This one-of-a-kind garden/greenhouse encompasses five acres of native and exotic plants within its tropical conservatory, rock wall garden, sculpture garden, fern grotto, main conservatory and outdoor garden. There is also an exhilarating 22-foot indoor waterfall, "Partners in Time" bronze sculpture.
Cecil B. Day Butterfly Center:
Flights of fancy await you in the Cecil B. Day Butterfly Center, where 1,000 tropical butterflies, representing more than 50 different species, flutter freely through the air. Tropical plants and birds, reside peacefully with the colorful winged jewels in North America's largest, glass-enclosed tropical conservatory. The film, On Wings of Wonder, plays continuously in the theater, explaining the life cycle of butterflies.
