In Beautiful Downtown Powdersville.
At the Intersection of Sitton Hill and Three Bridges Road.
Container is a camoed small plastic container NOT on the ground. Area is heavy with briars and fallen trees but only about 40 feet from the parking area.
This is #20 in our "WEIRD SC" Series which will consist of caches placed at locations where either ghosts, unknown creatures, or just plain weird things have occurred or exist.
We think our State Motto should change to "Smiling Faces, Haunted Places".
During the Civil War Powdersville is noted for being where the Confederacy stored gun powder. According to the legend a young slave girl, Eloise, lived there with her master whom she respected due to his excellent treatment of her. Eloise's master taught her to read and write and treated her more as a daughter than a slave.
While passing through Powdersville on their way to a battle Union soldiers killed her master and left his body hanging in an oak tree near this intersection. As she wept over the body she vowed to never leave him and that she would exact revenge. Supposedly one of the soldiers then killed her and left her body with that of her master.
It is said that late at night people have reported seeing her apparition on Three Bridges Road, screaming and crying out for her master.
All Aries saw there was a lot of vehiculer traffic going by. But after placing the cache and loading back into his vehicle he saw a flash of something swinging from a nearby oak of massive proportions. Upon stopping and looking closely all he saw was a huge branch swaying in the breeze. There wasn't anything there.
Was there???
