The second cache in a series we are hoping will inform you about this beautiful area of Santa Rosa County. Blackwater River Forest boasts the largest population of longleaf pines in the world. The area you are now standing near was severely damaged by Hurricane Ivan. If you explore a bit more here in the Munson Community you will note other areas that were hit hard by this hurricane.
Blackwater River Forest has a little of something for everyone. The towering pines, clear streams and winding rivers provide many opportunites for hikers, campers, kayakers, mountain bikers, horseback riders, and nature lovers.
The Division of Forestry manages Blackwater River State Forest under the multiple-use concept balancing environmental, recreational, and resource-use needs and reflecting Santa Rosa County’s overall commitment to protecting and enhancing its natural treasures.
You are looking for a large plastic camo container. It contains special Christmas swag and geo-gear. A first to find geocoin and a travel bug.
